April 8th 2024 sees a total solar eclipse pass right above southern Illinois. The start time of 7am from Pinckneyville allows the ride to get to in and around Carbondale IL for the maximum totality experience in the region at around 2pm.
The first 100km or so is rolling hills towards the Mississippi river with a control just over the river in Missouri (for all you state hunters) and then back over the bridge towards Ana and Murphysboro.
The back 100km is the flat agricultural lands of Illinois heading back through Carbondale, Hurst and DuQuoin.
Standard rando rules apply, probably a cold darkish start to the ride so hi viz and lights mandatory. Brevet cards will be preferred method of PoP
On street parking seems to be plentiful around City Hall at Walnut and Mulberry.
